Following initial condition survey work and feasibly advice prepared for our client’s letting agent, Cushman and Wakefield, Johnston Houston were appointed to procure and lead a multi-disciplinary design team for the Landlord’s refurbishment of this former BHS unit in the heart if Belfast City Centre.
Following initial enabling works which included asbestos removal, demolition and strip out works to a value of circa £500,000.00, our instructions extended to delivery of refurbishment for the Landlord to facilitate the reletting and reoccupation of this property. The scope of works included comprehensive rationalisation and structural alterations to provide sub-divided lettable accommodation. The initial retail unit has been occupied by Guineys from December 2018. It is anticipated that the remaining accommodation will be relet in 2019 to allow the building envelope improvements and façade overclad of this building to conclude the refurbishment where the final level of expenditure is expected to be in the region of £4m.
Johnston Houston have enjoyed working closely with Cushman and Wakefield as our instructing asset management client throughout this process and to continue this excellent working relationship through 2019 and beyond.
